Taking care of your hot enamel and micromosaic jewelry
Hot enamel and micromosaic jewelry are essentially made of glass and share the characteristics of this material. The jewelry is not flexible and should not be bent. It is sensitive to strong impacts and falls on hard surfaces, so wearing it at the gym, during sports activities, at night, or at the beach is not recommended. Take care of your jewelry by storing it in your jewelry box when not used.
A slightly damp cloth is sufficient to remove fingerprints or stains from the front of enameled and polished micromosaic jewelry. Avoid aggressive or acidic products that could compromise their shine. For unpolished micromosaic jewelry, use a soft brush, such as a new and clean makeup brush, to gently remove dust from the mosaic tiles. Be gentle. If your micromosaic gets wet, don't worry, just pat it dry with a cloth to remove most of the water and then let it dry in the air (do not use an air dryer). Avoid soaking your micromosaic or other enamel jewelry in water for long periods.
If the metal parts of the jewelry oxidize and you do not like the antique effect that time gives them, it is advisable to consult a jeweler for proper cleaning. Be sure to specify that the piece contains vitreous enamel. If you prefer to remove oxidation at home, I recommend using Brasso metal polish, similar products, or the included white polishing cloth. Gently rub the exposed metal parts, avoiding the enameled and micromosaic areas, then wipe with a cotton cloth, and your jewelry will shine again. If your jewelry has an antique finish, this process may remove it, returning the metal to its natural color without the aged effect.
